This was the image my Vancouver paper used for the cover in January of this year.  It TOOK FOREVER, like every aspect of my feature in this issue, requests to add/remove tattoos, remove the pot smoke and joint he was holding then add to or further remove all of these things, and trying to get his head (and that goddamn chin of his) into proportion with the rest of him.
Once I shifted his gaze away from the left to directly at the viewer, it all gelled.  He looks cocky, cock-sure, sly, smart and a bit dangerous  – like his real-life counterpart.200 Cover Non-Smoking Unerased copy
